How can I assign tasks to staff members internally? Or how can we communicate internally when a ticket doesn't exist? For example, if I want to request a banner ad from a designer, how do I go about this? Or the designer wants to ask me a question?

Ideally, I'd like to create a task for them, but as I understand it, notes, tasks, and comments can't be assigned without a ticket, and I don't want to confuse things by treating staff members like clients by create a "log message" ticket.

Is there some way to simply assign a task to a staff member? Even something as off the digital track as "go the the post office and check the mail?

This is a good question, Ted:

Tasks can be related to Tickets, Organizations, or Opportunities (experimental CRM plugin). To do what you're asking, simply create an Organization named "Staff" (none of the other info needs filled out) and then create Tasks tied to that Organization.

I created this organization, and now I can't find it anywhere to associate tickets with it.

Can you tell me step by step how to do this?

Thanks,
Ted

found it. Just entered "staff" as requester.

I'm a little confused, Ted... You'd indicated that you wanted tasks for staff members without a ticket, so I suggested a pseudo-org to create tasks from (the Tasks tab on the Org details page). Now, though, you're asking about linking tickets to this pseudo-org, and I'm somewhat confused by that.

The why is really none of my business, though ;-), but I am concerned that you'll run into odd behaviors or problems related to using something other than an email address as a requester. Perhaps there's a better way for either you or us to do what you're trying to accomplish. If you'd like to run the business process / use case by us, we can see if there's any optimization we can offer (either in code or in process).
