I know we should have upgraded a while ago but 2.7.1 worked fine for us. Unfortunately our ISP just 'upgraded' our server to MySQL 5.0.45/PHP 4.4.7/PERL 5.8.8 and the Help Desk is not working properly . For example, the search results returns 57 tickets and the GUI has the text (say) "Showing 1-7 of 57:" tickets - but there is nothing visible.

Any quick fixes? We are pretty desperate at the moment.

Andrew
( PS I mean 2.7.0 of course)

Hi Andrew,

Your options at this point are to upgrade to version 3 or 4. Version 2.x was written pre mysql 5.x implementation and is unfortunately not very compatible with that version of mysql.

Version 3 looks like your best bet if you wish to stay with your hosted environment. Version 4 requires php 5.1.6.

However, if you want, we can host your helpdesk for you for $49 a month. (We can transfer over your old data).

Ok that's what I needed to know. Upgrading to 3.6 should not be a problem. I assume we upgrade Support Center to 3.6 as well from http://www.cerberusweb.com/downloads/cerberus-support-center-3.6.431.tar.gz

Couple of questions about 2.7.0->3.6
- Is there an "upgrade guide" somewhere?
- has the way of submitting tickets changed? We use the e-mail parser hosted on our mail server.

And BTW do we need to pay for the upgrade to 3.6?

There really isn't a wiki'd guide for upgrading from 2.x to 3.x:

Try this.

1. Backup your sql database and cerberus files and move them to a backup directory
2. Unzip the new cerberus-guid and support-center files into your web accessible directory where the old files were.
3. Replace the values in the new config.php with the old values.
4. Re apply 777 permissions (full access) to templates_c tempdir logo.gif
5. Try to login to your helpdesk.
6. Run the upgrade script that is prompted. (make sure you upgrade and do not clean install)
7 Login to your helpdesk

The old support center files are located here:
http://www.cerberusweb.com/oldsite/download_fetch.php?fv=support_center

If you wish to upgrade to 3.x, my suggestion is to purchase the product renewal from http://cerberusweb.com/buy

This will gain you access to upgrades, including version 3 and 4.

Thanks for the help. We coughed up the money and the upgrade to 3.6 went very smoothly - all seems to be working fine now.
