It would be great if there was a way to migrate data from Kayako to Cerberus.
There's already a JIRA feature request at http://www.wgmdev.com/jira/browse/CHD-166 but I also wanted to flag it up here to see if there was any more support for it?

Surely somebody must be interested in this?
Jeff, is this not soemthing you could help with? We may be willing to sponsor the development of this...

Hey Darren!
I know there are people interested in a Kayako exporter (and several other systems). Most have kept their old systems as an archive while waiting for this.
The reason we took the migration approach we did with Cerb4 was to provide a universal import from those other tools.
All we'd really need to do is take a Kayako database and export the messages in RFC-822 format again -- which is exactly how the Cerb3-to-Cerb4 migration works. You'd just dump the resulting files in your /cerb4/storage/mail/new directory.
If you have a Kayako database that you don't mind sharing with me, I'd be happy to add the exporter to our migration tools.

Anybody that's got a sample Kayako db dump that I can look at, I'd appreciate using it to test with. All data provided will be deleted after testing.

A Kayako ticket exporter is available at
http://www.cerberusweb.com/downloads/cerb4/Kayako_ticket_exporter.zip
Extract the zip file, edit config/config.props, and run it:java -jar Kayako_exporter.jar config/config.props
It's been tested to work correctly for tickets, individual messages, and attachments, but only on a few small dbs I had available. Please report any problems to support@cerberusweb.com

Seems to be working well.
Thank you.

I don't have JAVA on my server, is there an other way to convert the Kayako database?

I setup a local linux box with java on it, and then connected to our kayako db remotely. Exported the messages to the local box, then uploaded via FTP to the cerb4 mail dir.

4umedia: No, there's only the Java exporter that we've written for Kayako at this time. Like darren said, though, it should be fairly easy to get around not having Java on your Kayako server.

Migrating from Kayako is fine and dandy as long as you don't utilize the WHMCS integration of Kayako...
I think this is probably one of the most important features to have added as a plugin.
Vote this up >>> http://www.wgmdev.com/jira/browse/CHD-763
The two largest helpdesk competitors to Cerberus (Kayako/Vision) have this integration already and the WHMCS integration is the biggest thing stopping us from purchasing this product and leaving Kayako.
