This was mentioned as a work in progress a long time ago on the old forum but I've seen nothing lately about Workstation. It sure looks like this project is dead which is too bad since it is the reason I purchased Cerberus.

Can anyone refute my summary of the situation?

I've even submitted multiple tech support requests and a bug report for problems in the current latest version of Workstation (for 3.x) which have never gotten a response. I'm pretty disappointed.

Hey there!

At the moment the Workstation concept isn't being translated to 4.0.

The major purpose of Workstation was to give us a place where we could try alternate interfaces and concepts without drastically changing Cerb 3.x.

With Cerb 4.0 we were able to give 9 months of thought to cleaning up all our concepts in the main interface, which deprecated the primary purpose of Workstation.

That's not to say we'll never have another alternative desktop interface for 4.x -- but it would have been a big time-waster developing it in tandem with the 4.0 web interface which was conceptually changing and improving very rapidly. The more dependencies we build in, the earlier, the fewer massive improvements/innovations we can make.

Workstation in 4.0 will really depend on customer demand more than anything.

I'd start by asking what the 4.x interface doesn't do well enough that leaves the door open for Workstation still? That kind of feedback is very helpful.

Thanks!

I'd like a tool which I used to exist where the Notification area on the task bar could pop up (like receiving email in outlook) when you have a new ticket in a group or alike.

Is there any tool, in-house or 3rd party which does this for 4.0?

Some of us here use the Cerberus RSS feeds for that. I personally use anothr to monitor my ticket / forum feeds and send me an IM. I think Jeff uses FeedDemon. I haven't used one that specifically does so, but I'm sure there are feed readers that will give you the systray popup.
