Hello all,

i have a slight problem with installing the helpdesk. During the installation wizard i'm asked for smtp settings, but im running the helpdesk on a local test area and i can't open smtp connections because of firewall limitations for this test lab.

But without a succeeding test of the smtp connection, the installer doesn't continue, which brings me to a dead end.

If i cancel the wizard then and reopen the page im not getting the installer anymore but a login screen. I'm not sure whether the installer finished all necessary steps already to run the helpdesk without smtp / pop settings configured, but i assume that the login data for the helpdesk will be configured in a later step of the wizard? As i don't have any clue with what user i should login at the point of this "half installation".

Thanks in advance for your help,

Martin

Hey Martin,

The main reason we force SMTP details to be verified before continuing the installation is the subsequent steps send e-mail (passwords to new workers, etc.)

If you want, just type in something like "mail.webgroupmedia.com" on port 25. It's not going to relay mail for you, but it will let you continue and then change the SMTP setting later.

Though really, I'd just suggest setting up a local MTA in your dev environment on "localhost".

What's your dev environment like? VM? XAMPP?
