I loooooove being able to put stuff like "Tuesday" in the "When does this ticket next need attention field", but I often want to close things without replying. It would be nice if the batch close button somehow gave me the ability to do that, and also assign a next worker.

You can change the Status to Closed and set the Next Worker from the Bulk Update (click the button under the ticket list after checking the boxes of the tickets you want to affect).

@Hildy
I think he was saying he wants to be able to batch close things until 'Tuesday'. AKA: Batch setting the re-open date.
I'll have Joe add this to JIRA.

I went ahead and filed your improvement suggestion in our database. Feel free to track the progress here:

Batch setting the reopen date is primarily what I wanted, but batch assigning and closing stuff is cool too. I guess I'd never tried the "bulk update" button before. :)

It's a real time-saver on a huge list! Especially since you can use sender/subject wildcards to match against only certain rows in a long list. It's like the Super Sorter but with more control over the pattern to match.
I use Bulk Update all the time with the 'search' option at the top of a worklist, which auto-populates search criteria from whatever you're currently looking at.
Often times you'll do a search and want to act on the entire list with handling each page separately.
It's even more helpful with my webmail, where I tend to get a lot of Amazon/Netflix receipts with minor variations in the subject line.
