Does anyone use a voicemail to text service? We get alot of voicemails and it would be much more convenient for us to have them converted to text and imported into Cerberus so that we can distribute/manage them that way. Is anyone else doing this, if so can you recommend a good service? thanks!

I have a contact in the VOIP industry who may know of something that does this.

we use an answering service for this reason.. it is a MUCH better way to deal with voice mail. not free about .39 per message but for us it is worth it.
the customer gets a live voice andwe get all our questions asked and put in the email in a nice parsable format.

Khalid,
Your link is nice - the issue is it only works with wireless carriers, and it doesn't support a lot of them as it is....

we finally settled on SimulScribe. We forward unanswered calls to them and they email back a transcription along with a wav file. $30/month for unlimited voicemails.

Back a couple of years ago I was working integrating Asterisk voice mail into V3.X. Basically it would take the voice mail and forward to the support in Cerberus. Cerberus would look at the CID and try and match it up to an email address. If it could not it would just replace the email with the CID Number and generate a ticket.
I sold the company before I finished that project up but it is still applicable either with Asterisk or a newer Hybrid PBX. Just food for thought in case you decide at some time you want to bring that functionality in house later on down the road, but you’re on the right track.
